Rebranding PayBox

This is an exciting time! We are now getting close to launching our Digital Delivery project. We expect this to happen within a few weeks. In addition, we will be adding some Facebook integration features to the website. These changes will probably bring a lot of new users to our service.

As part of this growth, the time has come to change the name of our service. During the coming week, PayBox.me will be moving to a new name. This will change the name of our service and our domain name. Don’t worry, we will redirect visitors who go to PayBox.me for a while. User accounts will not be affected:

  • You will still log in with the same username and password.
  • Any amount you have earned will still be in your account.

Update on the Database Move

Our programmers finished moving the user database over the weekend. Everthing went smoothly and the site was down for less than two hours.

Update on Projects

The testing on the new servers has gone very well this week. This weekend our programmers will move ahead with the final steps required to move the user database. The work on the website this weekend may cause the website and/or payments to be unavailable for periods of time (possibly many hours at a time). We expect everything to be up and operational by Monday.

Rebranding

As part of our growth and preparations to begin accepting payments for digitally delivered goods, PayBox.me will be rebranding our service. I will post more details on this on Monday.

Thanks for participating as we work to make our service the best it can be.

We will be spending most of this week heavily testing and tuning our new server architecture. This testing started late last week and it is the reason our web site has been periodically unavailable. This blog post is to let everyone know that the website will continue to be unavailable for periods of time throughout the week.

Thanks for participating in our growing service!

Our programmers have spent the past 2 days cleaning up the user database, deleting dormant accounts and preparing the database for the move to the new system. We expect this move to be complete by the end of the week.

Once the database move is complete we will upgrade our email system (which sends our password reminders). From there, we’ll begin work on Facebook integration features and the Digital Delivery Project which will allow our users to begin purchasing digital goods and services from merchants who sign on to the new system.

We’ve got a lot of exciting things coming. I will keep you updated as we continue to progress. Thanks for participating as we work to add valuable new features to PayBox.

Our programmers have been working on moving the user database as mentioned in this post. They have said this process will probably take several more days, due to some unexpected issues and clean-up they have to do as part of the database move.

Important: The entire website may be off-line for hours at a time during the move this week.

This database upgrade is part of a much larger plan that will allow PayBox to handle millions of user transactions per day. Thanks for your patience as we complete these upgrades and thanks for using PayBox!

Sun, Feb 13 – Big Changes Coming

Instead of our regular “Big Picture” post today, I have other important news to discuss. PayBox has entered a new development cycle. Our programmers are working on some big changes to our website. Some of this work is behind-the-scenes type stuff which you won’t really see, and some of it will be new features that we will ask our users to begin testing.

There will be many new features available in the next 30 to 60 days.

Starting today, I will frequently check the developers schedule to let you know what features we’re working on—whether or not it’s something you can test or use. We feel that it is really important to keep our users even more updated as we continue to move forward.

What’s Happening Now?

Starting immediately our programmers will be working to move our user database to a more robust system. This is one of the final steps to prepare our website to handle millions of transactions per day. This project could take 1 to 2 days to complete.

Important: While the user database is being moved, all payments (including those between accounts and EarlyBird user bonuses) will be frozen. Once the database move is complete, the freeze will be removed.

Thanks for helping us take PayBox to the next level—keep up the good work!

Our developers have finished most of the work on the website upgrade that has taken the past few weeks. We are excited to announce that we are now working on some Facebook integration features, which will be an important part of both the Growth Project and the Digital Delivery project.

Digital Delivery Project

The Digital Delivery Project will allow merchants who sell digitally delivered goods to begin accepting PayBox payments. This will allow you—our EarlyBird users—to begin spending your PayBox balance on digital goods offered by these merchants.

Growth Project Update

The Growth Project is designed to grow our user base to our Stage 2 growth goal of 2 to 5 million users. This will allow us to begin work to “Open the Box” with the goal of becoming a full-featured payment processor.

I’ll post updates and new details on these projects as more information becomes available. Thanks for helping us take PayBox to the next level—keep up the good work!

Cashing-in on Facebook Games

We just discovered a new tutorial that teaches how to cash-in on Facebook games and others like CityVille, FarmVille, Mafia Wars and more. The guy behind this tutorial earned over $1.2 Million in one year from FarmVille alone. His methods can be used by anyone and you’ll learn techniques that could also help you profit from the launch of PayBox and our upcoming affiliate program.

If you would like to learn more, please take a few minutes to check it out.

PayBox Blog: Clearing Up Confusion

PayBox Blog: Clearing Up Confusion

Clearing Up Confusion

Clearing Up Confusion

It has recently come to our attention that some of our users do not have a clear understanding of the nature of PayBox. This is very unfortunate and we believe the reason for this falls in three main areas:

  1. Our website may not have been self-explanatory enough for some of our users to understand.
  2. Some users didn’t read the Terms of Service when joining.
  3. Some users either knowingly or unknowingly passed on misinformation when sharing PayBox with others.

Today we intend to clear up any remaining confusion and hopefully remove the possibility for this to happen in the future.

So what’s all the confusion about?

Apparently some of our users assumed that their PayBox account was held in U.S. dollars, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, Belize dollars, Singapore dollars, or one of the many other currencies which use the “dollar” denomination.

PayBox is not any of these. It is a private virtual currency. This has always been stated clearly in our Terms of Service. Every PayBox user agreed to these Terms of Service as a condition of joining. Although we still expect users to read the Terms of Service, we now realize the need for more direct statements and reminders throughout the website for some of our users.

Changes to the website…

In order to prevent this type misunderstanding in the future with new users, we have changed wording on many pages of the website. In addition, the logo, which can be seen on every page, now says: “PayBox.me virtual currency”.

In addition, we have created a special page to help people better understand currencies, virtual currencies and the role of PayBox. This page is linked to from the “What is it?” tab of the home page.

We hope that these measures will help to avoid any potential confusion in the future.

Thanks for participating as we work to take PayBox to the next level!

PayBox Blog: Sun, Feb 6 – The Big Picture

Sun, Feb 6 – The Big Picture

Posted: 06 Feb 2011 07:00 AM PST

In our blog post each Sunday, we take a step back to focus on “The Big Picture”. This blog post serves two purposes:

  1. To help our new users get oriented and learn what PayBox is all about.
  2. To help our existing users stay up-to-date and focused on our goals as we continue to develop the PayBox service.

The Big Picture

PayBox is developing an online currency and payment processing service to make buying and selling online easier, more secure and available to everyone. We’re designing our service with the help of a dedicated group of EarlyBird users who test new features and contribute ideas and feedback.

What has been developed?

Person-to-person transactions are working. Any user can transfer funds from their PayBox account to another user’s account. Currently PayBox is a “closed box” system, that means all transactions are within our system only. Users cannot deposit or withdraw funds at this time.

What is being developed?

The Digital Delivery Project and Growth Project are being developed. Have a look at yesterday’s blog post to learn more about those projects.

What is planned?

Our goal is to “Open the Box”, inviting merchants to accept PayBox. This will allow our users to buy from any merchant who has registered to accept PayBox payments. In time, we plan to offer debit cards linked to user accounts and in-exchange and out-exchange to enable deposits and withdrawals using nearly any currency in the world.

What is the next step?

In order to form the essential working relationships with large merchants and payment networks, we need a bigger user base. What does that mean? More users! We must grow our user base to 2-5 million users (our Stage 2 growth goal) before we can really begin work to “Open the Box”.

To help us reach these growth goals, we are preparing to launch an affiliate program. We are in the process of building a newly-trained affiliate “army” who will lead the way when our new affiliate program launches. If you would like to learn a new skill and profit from the launch of PayBox, you are invited to participate. But, remember, this isn't for everyone—it's completely optional.

If you are interested in participating, please explore our current recommendations:

Website Upgrade

Yes, once again, our programming and engineering teams are working to upgrade our website infrastructure. They expect that the website will not be interrupted, although it could be down for brief periods of time.

More about this upgrade…

We are on the third week of this upgrade. The upgrade is designed to increase the capacity of our website, allowing it to handle millions of user transactions per day. The upgrade will be complete before we launch our Digital Delivery Project and our affiliate program. This will allow PayBox to handle the upcoming growth.

Digital Delivery Project

The Digital Delivery Project will allow merchants who sell digitally delivered goods to begin accepting PayBox payments. This will allow you—our EarlyBird users—to begin spending your PayBox balance on digital goods offered by these merchants.

The digital goods offered could include things such as:

  • Computer software
  • Digital images
  • Electronic books
  • Information products
  • MP3s (including music and audio books)
  • Education & Tutorials
  • Videos
  • Wallpapers
  • Web hosting
  • Website memberships
  • and anything else that can be delivered online

How long until it’s ready?

We plan to have this project ready before the Growth Project affiliate program launches. The Digital Delivery Project still does not have an exact “go live” date. I’ll post updates on this project as more information becomes available.

Growth Project Update

The Growth Project is designed to grow our user base to our Stage 2 growth goal of 2 to 5 million users. This will allow us to begin work to “Open the Box” with the goal of becoming a full-featured payment processor.

In order to properly launch our new affiliate program, we are building an “army” of 10,000 newly-trained Internet marketers. Once our army of marketers is ready and trained the new affiliate program will go live.

We have extended an open invitation to all EarlyBird users who would like to join our affiliate army. If you would like to profit from the launch of PayBox, you are invited to participate. But, remember, this is completely optional—and it isn’t for everyone.

If you would like to profit from the launch of our affiliate program, please explore our current recommendations:

The Latest News

Affiliate Army…

This week our affiliate “army” grew to just over 8% of the target size. We won’t launch our affiliate program until our affiliate army has grown to ten thousand, and is trained and ready. Joining isn’t for everyone—we expect that less than 4% of our EarlyBird users will choose to join.

What if you want to join, but you haven’t set aside the time, the money, or simply may not have seen the right opportunity for you yet? That’s okay, there is still time to get trained and ready before the affiliate program goes live. We will continue to recommend training courses and tools in preparation for the launch of our affiliate program.

Our current recommendations:

Upcoming features…

Our programming team will again be hard at work this weekend working upgrading our website as we prepare for the big growth our affiliate program will bring. We expect that within the next month, we may begin inviting some merchants to begin accepting PayBox. Check back tomorrow for updates on our current projects.

Preparing for Merchants

As we draw closer to the launch of our Digital Delivery Project, please be thinking of digital merchants who may be interested in accepting PayBox payments. In the beginning, merchants will have submit an application to join our Digital Delivery program. We will review these applications and will select the merchants we feel provide the best value to our EarlyBird users.

The Digital Delivery Project could be ready within a month, so please, be thinking of merchants who may be interested in participating. The program is only for merchants who sell digitally delivered goods, we are not set up to handle the sale of physical goods at this point.

Join our Affiliate Army

You are invited to join our affiliate army. If you would like to profit from the launch of our coming affiliate program, you are welcome to participate. But, remember, it’s completely optional—this opportunity isn’t for everyone.

If you want to be a successful affiliate, you will need to know how to drive a lot of web traffic to your links. If you have the ambition and determination it takes to create a better life for yourself, then please take a minute to explore this week's recommended training course.
